Philip Ross, CEO and Founder of UnGroup and Cordless Group was interviewed about the office of the future on the Tech24 tech news show on France 24 TV.
Philip explains that the office is about to undergo a fundamental reinvention.
New technology is transforming how we work and people today have different expectations. The workplace will become more activity based. It will be a place for people to come when they need to be there – to choose where they want to work based on what they have to do and who they have to work with. But the office will also change to an environment that is more load-balanced to reflect the real work that is taking place.
Technologies are really interesting and smart buildings are about to come to realisation. There are great examples of smart workspaces in the market now which are showing us a future where people have control over their work environment. Also the building can have intelligence – it can help people perform better. But even more importantly, it can become a well building. It’s about people’s wellbeing and performance. This is part of a vision that we have of a high performance workplace. Smart data and big data is obviously there and the benefits should be seen to be able to help people work in a better way. For example, finding people who are in is a big issue for large corporations. So what the smart building will do is enable all people finding and also engineer serendipity – that is pushing people together for the right reason if they’re in the same space at the same time.
